Meet The Ironwood Family

Ironwood Renovations is a family-owned business built around craftsmanship, communication, and creating something lasting for the people we love. Every member of our family plays a part in the story of Ironwood — whether that means working on projects, helping behind the scenes, or simply being the reason, we’re building something of our own.

Jon Cogan

Owner/Operator

Jon started Ironwood after years of seeing how often speed and profit could take priority over the quality of the finished work. He wanted to build differently — taking the time to do things well, stand behind the result, and create work that’s meant to last. Raised by a single mother in Durham, NC, Jon built his career from the ground up and takes a lot of pride in how far that work has carried him. He’s also a natural storyteller who can turn a jobsite conversation into a life story, and he genuinely enjoys making people laugh. Outside of work, he loves spending time with family, fishing, shooting pool, and pointing out every house he’s ever worked on during just about any car ride through town.

At the end of the day, his goal is simple: build it, build it well, and build it to last.

Over 15 Years of Carpentry & Renovation Experience

Briyanna

Part-Time Receptionist & Project Photographer

Phones, photos, errands, and keeping up with life in between.

Briyanna helps out with Ironwood when she can, whether that means answering phones, running errands, taking project photos, or stepping in wherever an extra set of hands is useful. Outside the business, she’s busy with school, traveling to spend time with friends and family, gaming, talking to just about anyone, and fully embracing the chaos of college-age life. Her cat Gilly is absolutely her baby, and she treats that title very seriously.

Malissa Hovis

Design Consultant & Client Coordinator

Design-minded, detail-focused, and always thinking three steps ahead.

Malissa brings more than 10 years of home-interior experience to Ironwood, with a background in furniture sales, paint and color consulting, and residential design guidance. Before Callum was born, she worked directly with clients on design decisions and project direction, and she is currently adding CAD to her skill set through school. Long before Ironwood, she studied both design and business career pathways, so the mix of creativity, planning, and client experience has been part of her path for years. Outside of work, she loves reading, watching movies with the family, and finding new ideas to bring into whatever project she’s working on next.

The Rest of the Ironwood Crew

Natalie

Creative Strategy Intern

Big ideas, strong opinions, and very committed to breaks

Natalie brings the business-and-marketing brain to the family, with a creative streak that shows up in gaming, digital art, reading, and whatever hobby has her attention that season. She’s quick to spot what might catch people’s attention and how to present something better. Physical labor is definitely not her favorite department, but she’s empathetic, observant, and always ready to remind everyone to hydrate, eat something, or take a break.

Callum

Management in Training

Snack specialist, nap-time scheduler, and tiny supervisor.

Callum may be the youngest member of the Ironwood family, but he already has a major influence on daily operations. He specializes in keeping everyone moving around meals, naps, and snack breaks, and he has a talent for making sure no one forgets who the real boss is. For now, his main responsibilities are supervision, morale, and growing into whatever role he chooses someday.

Aden

Community Relations & Project Support

Social butterfly, cleanup helper, and never short on an opinion

Aden is happiest wherever the people are. She loves taking photos, talking with clients and neighbors, helping with cleanup, and making sure everyone knows what Ironwood is up to. She has a strong eye for presentation, plenty of opinions, and a definite appreciation for the finer things in life. When she isn’t helping out or socializing, there’s a good chance she’d rather be spending the day with her Mimi.

Why We’re Building Ironwood Renovations

Ironwood Renovations is more than a business to our family. We’re building something stable, lasting, and worth passing down — a company our children can grow up around, contribute to in their own ways, and be proud to call part of their family story.
